Imogen Luczyc-Wyhowska
Imogen’s practise fundamentally evolves around abstract painting and collage.
When looking at painting, colour (most noticeably orange) and organic forms are the primary Influences of her paintings. Next, she regards the materiality of the paint as the fundamental body of the canvas. She works both with imposing impasto to accentuate a three-dimensionality to the flat of the canvas, and the stain method - which involves pouring diluted paint or pigment onto un-primed and un-stretched canvas.
Collage is a secondary medium that Imogen chooses to explore alongside her paintings. All of her source material comes from magazines or second-hand books which she interlaces into delicate compact compositions.
In the future, Imogen hopes to create a cross-over of both her painting and collage practises and by doing so – explore the symbiosis of paint and found image.
